The ancestor I will be telling you about today is my Grandma, Raedell Woolsey. She was born January 29, 1941 in Ogden, Utah. Her parents were Elmo & Rose Robison. Rose was a homemaker and Elmo worked for mining companies, and would open up iron and coal mines around America. Raedell had 1 brother and 4 sisters and se was the oldest child in her family.

My Grandma Raedell's favorite color was green, because it reminded her of the outdoors. As a child my Grandma moved and lived in a lot of places. She lived in Morgan, Utah, Kamas, Utah, Bryson City, North Carolina, Brigham City, Utah, McDonald, Pennsylvania, Richmond, California, Ozark, Arkansas, Hawthorn, Nevada, Tucson, Arizona, and then Cedar City, Utah. She made new friends everywhere she went, and had lots of fun adventures. When Grandma Raedell lived in Pennsylvania, she had her sisters were playing in an old house nobody lived in, and a window fell down on her had. It cut her on the top of her hand, and every time she made a fist her knuckle bone stuck out of the skin. Her and her sisters thought it was funny. They went home and showed my Great Grandma Rose, and she passed out in their kitchen.

After high school Raedell worked at the iron mines in Cedar City. My Grandma Raedell met my Grandpa Lavoy when working at the iron mine west of Cedar City, Utah. They were married on January 29, 1972 on my Grandma Raedell's birthday. They lived in the town of Cedar City for 4 months, then built a house at Woolsey Ranch 15 miles west of Cedar and lived on the ranch next to my Great Grandpa Dee Woolsey. My grandpa still lives in that house, and we also live in our house we built on the ranch. They bought a small herd of cows, and would raise the calves to sell every year. Lavoy and Raedell had three children, all girls! Their oldest was Angie, middle was Kati, and the youngest was my mom Krystal. Their kids learned to work hard helping grow crops, feeding and watering the animals, gathering cows, and gardening with my Grandma Raedell. As a family, Grandma Raedell and Grandpa Lavoy traveled to many rodeos with their kids, worked on the ranch, and spent lots of nights camped out in their sheep wagon at the desert ranch.

For fun, Grandma Raedell loved to read! She loved the Native American culture and liked learning as much as she could about it. She would take the kids to Native American Pow Wows in different towns. She also liked to go on archaeological digs for dinosaur bones. Something Grandma Raedell and I have in common is we both love our animals. My grandma Raedell loved out beagle dog Uma, and so did I! When I was little I sept a lot of time with my Grandma Raedell and my dog Uma at Grandma's house. She would make lunch for us, and we would share with Uma the dog! Her favorite kind of food was Mexican food, especially from Paula's in St. George. My Grandma Raedell passed away on June 24, 2016 when she was 75 years old. I had just turned 3 on June 10th right before she died. My Grandpa and my mom told me that Grandma Raedell was the most patient person they knew. My Grandma was so kind and loved spending time with her family.
