I would like to share some awesome things about my great grandpa. His name is Evan Hal Sullivan. He is my dad’s grandpa. His real name Evan but everyone called him Hal. My dad says he was a hal of a guy. Hal was born on January 1st 1928. He was born in Leeds Utah. When he was a kid he played Football and basketball. He went to Dixie High school. He had five brothers and sisters. Their names were Twila, Mary, Dee, Glenna, and Wes. Twila died when she was five. His family grew up in Leeds and St. George.
Hal got married when he was really young. He married Leila Barber when he was eighteen years old. They got married in the St. George temple. He had his first kid when he was nineteen. His name was Clark. He had some more kids down the road to. He had a daughter named Joyce. After Joyce he had another daughter named Lori. Lori died when she was still a baby. After Lori they had another girl named Jillyn. There last kid born is my grandpa and his name is Bruce Sullivan. They stayed living in St. George for there whole lives. They had a house by Dixie College.
For his job Hal was a farmer. He had horses, cows, chickens, and some pigs. His farm was in St. George in an area called Little Valley. The farm is not there anymore because now there are just houses. I kind of wish it was still there so I could go see it. Hal had lots of fields where he grew hay. I was told that Hal had lots of tractors and would give rides to all the grand kids when he came out to do his chores every night. They had so much fun with him. He had a horse named Blaze that was brown with a white spot on his face that looked like a fire. That is why he got called Blaze. He gave horsy rides to the kids sometimes to.
My dad says that he was called grandpa nibbies because he always had twizzler nibs in his truck to give to all the grandkids. He would give each kid 6 nibs. Then sometimes he would sneak a extra nib to one kid and tell them to not tell the others.
Hal liked to go to the Dixie College basketball games every year. The best part of going with him was that he would always by treats for the kids. He loved all of the grand kids so much. He was a very hard worker but liked to have fun to.
Hal died on October 1st 2002 in St. George. He had something wrong with his heart. He was buried in St George on October 4th 2002. He lived tell he was 74. I wish I had the chance to meet him because he sounds like he would be so fun.
