I chose to write about my grandpa Scott, because he is one of my favorite grandpas. He is one of my favorites because he is very funny, and he always helps me if he can. Grandpa Scott is also really healthy, so he can hike and play with me. My grandpa was born in Brigham City, Utah on January 30th, 1959. He had terrible allergies as a child, so one of his nicknames was Snotty Scotty. I’m happy my grandpa is healthy because, since he is, he is still alive.

My grandpa has one brother and two sisters. His dad was a spy in WWII in an organization called the OSS (Office of Strategic Services). One of my grandpa's biggest challenges was a bike race from Logan, Utah to Jackson Hole, Wyoming. He participated in it seven times, but the 2006 race was the hardest. That year, it snowed all day, so my grandpa had to pedal through snow and slush during all twelve hours of the race. A couple reasons I love my grandpa so much are that he is courageous and perseveres through challenges.

My grandpa loves being outside; as I said before, he has done many bike races. Grandpa Scott not only loves bikes, but he also loves climbing, hiking, and he used to do motorcross. I also like climbing, hiking and riding bikes, and I especially like doing those things with my grandpa. Me and my grandpa love hiking so much that we hike for hours sometimes. While we hike we like to find rocks, but when we bring the rocks home, they just sit on a shelf for a long time. When we find rocks though, it’s not about the sitting-on-the-shelf part; it’s about spending time with my grandpa. My grandpa’s career is in dentistry, and his hobbies include snowshoeing, watching scary movies, camping, telling scary stories, and photography.

When I heard about my grandpa’s past I was amazed by how funny and strong he was. It was crazy how much he persevered in his life. He persevered through many bike races and has also gone through many motorbike crashes. I love that he has done all those things because it made him strong, kind, funny, and a very nice grandpa. All these things I have told you about is why I love my grandpa so much.
