The Thousand Dollar Haircut

Mell E. Stewart is my great grandpa. He lived a great life. He was born on January 13, 1929, he grew up in a little farm town called Meadow, Utah. He went to school in a two-room schoolhouse. He went to Fillmore high school, later on in his life he went to a barber collage. He worked in the Navy for four years. He was on the Navy track team. He was very fast. He ran the hundred-yard dash in ten seconds. The food that he would just get home and eat was homemade bread and a glass of milk. Two of his favorite songs were Home on the Range and Edelweiss. He worked for Howard Hughes and moved to California in his lifetime. Howard Hughes was a billionaire. My Grandpa was paid one thousand dollars the first time he cut Mr. Hughes hair!!! He liked to tell story’s a lot. One of his stories was he was in a big earthquake in a country called Nicaragua. Thousands of people died that day, but he survived. He had to help carry Mr. Hughes out of the hotel they were in. He also liked to tell stories about his world travels that he had to do with work. He would travel to London, the Bahama’s, and Mexico.

He had four children Theresa, Alan, Carla, and Robert. He went on the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson to talk about how he worked with Mr. Hughes. These are some fun facts about my great grandpa Mell. He did not like anything green except salad. He liked flowers but what he really liked was roses. He liked to go deer hunting. His favorite color was blue, and his favorite animal was a horse. He liked to collect pocketknives. He liked the mountains. He liked to visit and talk to people. He liked music and to listen to it. My grandpa had a great and wonderful life!
