This covert program wearing the unclassified name of Steve Canyon drew no more than 28 veteran FACs or fighter pilots at any given time to the five military regions of Laos. Given a recommendation from a full colonel in a combat region and having successfully passed three interviews with senior officers or two colonels and an ambassador, we were taken out of military uniform, our records were sanitized, and we were indoctrinated into Project 404 with a Raven call sign.
